Lucky to be alive

Hugh and his son, Thomas, lived on the north coast of Jamaica. hugh was a poor fisherman but he had his own small rowing boat. one night he took Thomas fishing with him. they put the fishing rods and lines into the boat and they took enough water and food with them for the night. hugh rowed the boat out to sea and they stared to fish. at first, the water was calm but then the wind began to blow. it grew stronger and storger. it was the start of astorm, a terriel tropical storm.
hugh tried to row back to the coast bur the wind was too strong. he became very worried and then frightened because of the strong winds and rough sea.

in the morning, the sea was calmer but hugh was still verry worried because they couldn't see land. however, he looked at sun shone fiercely and the day become hotter and hotter.
thomas and hugh became thirsty and hungry. thomas drank alittle water and ate some of the food but his father didn't have anything. he said that he was older and he was stronger than his sonwas.
but  his father was wrong, hugh tried to row againbut he couldn't. he was weak and thirsthy beause of the heat of the sun. It was a long day and hugh became weaker

hugh now was too weak to speak and he closed his eyes. Thomas was very worried, but he was so tired that he slept. thomas was now alone.
he spent for days and five nights on the boats. on the fifth morning, while Thomas was asleep under his shelter, a Canadian freighter saw the rowing boat and rescued him. he was a very brave boy and very lucky to be alive but his thoughts stayed on his father
